Hardly an original thought

but Newcastle's failure to beat us and (hopefully) forthcoming draw with Burnley will have them well adrift come January. However much cash they splash, how much of a good career move is it going to look like for properly top players? Best case, avoid relegation; stay where they are and they'll likely achieve a lot more. Average case, go down and play a season in the champs; bad case, same but more than one season. Not really an enticing prospect unless you're near the end of your career/know your at your limit and want to cash in for an easy rest-of-life financially.

I'll admit, I'm incredibly keen for Newcastle to go down this term and then not come straight back up. So I may be a bit biased against them.
