it was epic you'd have loved it

the heirarchy thought "let's give the lads a day off and have a bbq in the middle of the desert". good idea what's the occasion? forces entertainment night out with the stars and big international match for the lead up. good stuff, best way to do this? i know lets pair off the regiments in groups of two and they can sort their own grub/beer out watch the footy then convene at "gerri's mound" for the show (henmans hill was de rigeur at the time i think). brilliant idea, let's pair the scots and welsh regiments off with the english ones, what could possibly go wrong?

it was like being inside apocalypse now. we were actually medivacing our own troops out in chinooks. in my top three best days out ever.
