The thing that surprises me about all of the MOTD presenters

With the possible exception of Lineker who at least has the personality to tie the whole show together, is how rubbish they are. Cliche after trite cliche and actual insight is extremely rare. I thought when Neville started it would blow the doors off and the other channels would have to find a way to raise their game as he was head and shoulders above what anyone else was doing at the time. But I was wrong. MOTD remains almost unwatchable (and indeed I very rarely watch it, and when I do it just reminds me that it’s almost unwatchable).
