But imagine

if you could never express a view about something not within the field of your expertise (assuming you have one), how utterly dull & ridiculous everything would be -

"You know what, he shouldn't have picked Cantwell" .... "What do you know, are you a coach of international renown? Were you at training all week? Have you spent months with Todd, observing him closely? No? Fool! Be quiet!"

We'd have to sit passively watching everything, merrily assuming that because someone else knows better, we're not entitled to speak.
