i'm wildly attracted to submariners, i particularly like their take on the "stern look over the spectacles manoeuvre" when they bark "UP PERISCOPE!" and flip their grubby oil stained Kapitans Hat back to front and clap eyes on a pair of destroyers bearing down on them billowing out black smoke against the grey atlantic sky and instantly issue a string of terse direct orders and everyone reacts instantly. beautiful stuff. we'd probably have got into europe under AVB, wasted opportunity for me clive.
