I guess "fundamentally racist" people are those that are traditionally thought of as racist. I.e. those with overtly racist views, the BNP / national front types, or whatever.
Clearly not the issue here. Same with everyday homophobia and sexism. It's a societal thing generally I think and will take a very long time to change.
What I would say though is that my experiences of the more overt varieties of prejudice are fewer and farther between these days. I think there has been change, but it should be happening faster.
I wonder how far back in time we'd have to go for this cricket story not to have to be a story at all? Not that long I suspect.
