Have we actually let in many goals from set pieces this season? Doesn't feel like it.
If zonal working was demonstrably much less effective than man-to-man then nobody would ever use it. Lots of teams do use it so the odds are is is pretty equally effective, and what governs how well you defend set pieces is more likely down to how good your individual players are at it.
Our problems in recent years are far more likely to stem from just not having enough players who are good at heading the ball (in which case you are stuffed even if you employ man-to-man) than to what system we use.
