I disagree

Lambert / Culverhouse left us when we were on a high, having just stayed up comfortably, playing mostly attacking football and getting way more than the sum of the squad's parts. Now that was a tough act to follow.

If Smith had come in in the summer because Farke had been poached by a Bundesliga club, that would have been more comparable. But he's coming in for a manager who had a terrible Premier League record with us adrift at the bottom playing some awful football this season.

If you set aside Farke's personality and just look at it from a football point of view, Smith can't really lose (unless we somehow get worse, which really would be an achievement...).
