I don’t think the project has been abandoned

The project doesn’t mean sticking with a coach come what may. After all he was the one of the longest serving managers in the prem and many clubs would have sacked him last time.

Abandoning the project would mean appointing Bruce or Alladyce and thinking only of this season. Even if it is a one season appointment (which seems unlikely) they will be thinking longer term (eg who to appoint in the summer if we go down). The long term planning thing is pretty core to Webber’s approach.
