Putting emotion to one side, the appointment he is about to make is HUGE. If this move works (think Southampton, Adkins, Pochettino) then this will unlock a new level of opportunity for him and for our club. If it turns out to make no difference then his reputation will take a largish knock and, of course, we’ll be back in the Champs. Every managerial appointment is important, but this one is off the charts.
It also shows that Webber is capable of being utterly ruthless. But being ruthless is only a good thing if the ruthless decisions you take are also really good ones.
(In terms of that emotion, I’m conflicted. So sad to see Daniel leave. Would have loved it to see Daniel take us to safety. And yet, my word this season has seen us serve up some real slop. It’s been really really poor at times.)
