Daniel Farke's pre-Brentford press conference is about to begin. Updates to follow.
---------------------------------------------------------------
DF: We were focused this week on how to approach this next part of the season. We have to improve the quality in both boxes and we need to return to our normal DNA, dominating the ball better in possession. Against Leeds, we had too many long balls.
DF: I don't waste one moment on this topic of job safety. I need my energy for other things. I speak with my sporting director every day. Of course we are not happy with the status quo.
DF: We are not happy with not winning one game. We are working with many young players and I am fully convinced of the potential.
DF: I am fully convinced we have players with potential to be better than the squad we had 2 years ago. The likes of Sargent, Tzolis, Idah will one day be good PL players. The longer they play on this level, the better they will get.
DF: What you hope is for a good start and these younger lads are then flying and confidence is higher. But after our start it is tougher to bring them to this level. But I am fully convinced on this group.
DF: I am not addicted to contracts or money. If I had the feeling I was not the one to improve these players, I would be the first one knocking at the door. If our board had a feeling there is someone better, they would sign someone else up.
DF: If I had the feeling someone else was out there who could do a better job, I would let them do it. If our bus driver took charge of the first 10 games he wouldn’t have picked up any less points.
DF: Let's be honest, 2 points from 10 games. Even our bus driver could probably manage that. I know why there is pressure. I don't rely on the past and being the second best manager behind Pep last season.
DF: I am not thinking about this topic (his future). I am addicted to helping my players adapt and improve.
DF: Let me be clear, our bus driver is a great guy. But I don't think he would want my job at present.
DF: (On Brentford) They beat Arsenal who were without their key players. This helped them play with a different mindset to us against Liverpool and Man City. it’s more important to look at the table after 38 games.
DF: Thomas has done a fantastic job with Brentford. They are on 12 points and they deserve all the praise. Nevertheless, we want to win the points. They are strong on counter-attacks and set-pieces, so we need to keep them as far away as possible.
DF: We need to improve our efficiency in both boxes.
DF: Grant is not available and will miss the games for Scotland, out for two to three weeks. Kabak is struggling with glandular fever. Zimmermann is still out, so good to have Gibson back available. - (Hammer blow on Hanley (adductor). Out possibly the game the other side of the break. Kabak (glandular fever) doesn't sound too hopeful for #brentford as well. DF talking up Sorensen and Williams have played at CB earlier in career.)
DF: Todd Cantwell still not a topic for this game. He has to train for 2 weeks in a row without disruption to be considered. Cantwell missed a game for the U23 last week due to further injury issues. He may play a part in this evening's U23 game.
DF: It’s important to be honest. The quality in both boxes is lacking. There is not a lack of quality - Stuart Webber has done an outstanding job.
DF: If we want to get Danny Ings we need £25m, we cannot do this as a self-funded club. So, we opted to get Josh Sargent with lots of potential.
DF: With young players you have no guarantee they adapt quickly. The club and Stuart has backed us as much as it was possible.
DF: It is important the club does not lose it’s footballing DNA.
