...in the 60th minute we were one goal down, and the guys on the field had shown some teeth at least in the first half. Nobody on the field was terribly awful, while there were scattered mistakes around the entire team, and they'd created a few chances.
You have no guaranteed upgrades on the bench. The only ones you've even seen play at this level before are Zimmermann, Gunn, Kenny and Idah.
The first two aren't going to help, other than maybe Zimmermann if we went 5 at the back and in the game yesterday we would be almost guaranteed to be pinned back for the last half an hour.
You've got potentials in Sargent and Tzolis who've only just arrived so you're not really sure of them. You've got Kenny who might replace Rupp perhaps (if he is fit), or Lungi but again haven't seen him in Premier League yet. You've got Mumba and you've got Idah. But to put them on you have to replace players who are most likely to do something special. Dowell is the one who might do something different but Cantwell and Rashica were actually looking decent.
So in the 60th, while I'd have understood if we'd made subs, I also understand that Farke has decided to just see if we can weather the storm and get chances on the counter before changing it.
When we went 2 down, I would have realised that the guys on the pitch are not going to come back within 20 minutes given their lack of pre-season so I agree they came on about 5 or 10 mins late. I might have thought about bringing on Tzolis just simply as something unpredictable which could make a difference.
The bright spot for me is that not only Sargent, but also Idah looked dangerous when they arrived.
