The boss has arrived. Updates to start shortly.
---------------------------------------------------
DF: (Christos Tzolis) I am always careful to be praising young players too much, but he is a player with a lot of potential and we are delighted to have bring him in and work with him. We have to be careful with his expectation and putting too much on his shoulders.
DF: I get the feeling we are much better prepared than we were too years ago. Two years ago we needed the Premier League money to play for our sins in the past. Last time we only had one player who had Premier League experience in Alex Tettey. Now we are still the only self-funding club at this level so we are still the underdog, but this time we don't need a miracle we need a bit of luck with injuries and hard work.
DF: I wouldn't take 17th if you offered it me now. I want the maximum from our abilities. I want to go into each and every game as the best Norwich City side we can be and then we will see the outcome.
DF: (Teemu Pukki) Our problem was the Covid-19 outbreak two weeks ago. Teemu missed a major part of pre-season and has had 10 days training. However, it could be the first few weeks we need to work on inidividual fitness of some of the players to be back to their best.
DF: If I am honest I am not to keen to speak on lesson learned. You have to have the feeling and want to develop, but once you have the feeling that you know everything and you don't need to learn, you have to stop because you always need to develop and learn. Two years ago it was an unbelievable promotion and young players. We are in a much better position this season. We have a more experienced bunch of players and we want to earn our right to play on the top level for a bit longer.
DF: Yes, there is still a bit more to do (transfer market) but that is not my topic today. My focus now is just on the game.
DF: (Liverpool) We are facing a world class club, with world class players, a world class manager and world class fans. For Liverpool it is not that easy for them to bring in players better than they already have. I think they had a fantastic signing with Konaté. He is top class. It is a bit challenge. We are not the favourite in this game, but it will be like this for the majority of games and we have worked so hard to get these opportunities. We will fight with out tools to be competitive.
DF: You could argue that it is not the easiest starts. However, I am not to willing to interperate the fixtures list. We have to play every team twice, once at home and once away. We will try to be at our best in each and every game. We go into each and every game to try and win the game.
DF: (new recruits) We will see if they are all involved. We will make some late decisions because pre-season was interupted by injury by players and then the covid cases. All are available for the game, so that is definitely good news.
DF: I think of players like Todd Cantwell and Max Aarons. Two years ago they had to play at this level with no experience, but now they have 35 games at this level. This group of players is more prepared at this top level. That is not a guaranteed. We will have to fight each and every game to be competitive.
DF: (Fans) We need this impact. They should be disciplined and stick to the protocols but this doesn't mean they can't make noise and lift us up. I hope that everybody comes in a good mood. We need a special atmosphere and the fans deserve a special atmosphere.
DF: (Injury news) Sadly we have to go without Przemysław Placheta. He is not positive (with covid) but he is struggling with his side affect of his positive test. There is a question over Andrew Omobamidele because he missed the first few days training with tonsilitis.
DF: You can never say never as a self funding club, but we are in a fantastic position and I am confident we will keep our best players together and add to this group with more quality.
DF: Small things are always decisive in football. To be good in game management and to be good in the details you need this to be successful. We get the feeling we are much better prepared this time and we can turn the fine margins around. We are not naive, we know we are in the best league in the world. We will have to be spot on in each and every game.
DF: Our group of players you can't compare to two years ago. However, my thoughts of the game (against Liverpool) two years ago. We won the second half but you have to be spot on in each and every moment in these games
DF: It is the complicated task at the moment, without going into details with individual players. We have these issue with key players who have missed a bit of pre-season because of injuries, covid or returning back late from the Euros. So it is not how you would paint a picture for the first game of the season. We need to find a balance becuase we can't go into the game without our key players, but also can't go into this game using it as a pre-season game to give time to those key players who have missed minutes in pre-season. We will have to dig in and work our way into pre-season. The team selection for the first few games will be tricky.
DF: We are happy that a world class coach like Jürgen praises us. He is not just a world class, but he is a world class human beings. We have also got the feeling that we have some good signings, but they have to prove this at Premier League level.
DF: We of course have our principals and our way of playing, but it differs if you play a side like Middlesbrough or Brentford for example. We have to be the same at Premier League level. You have to be flexible without losing your principals. We will still want to dominate possesion, but we have to be flexible.
*The boss is currently answering a few questions in German. Apologies for the lack of translation.
DF: (Tactical) This is always a topic in pre-season because players arrive later. It is challenging when new signings and new players arrive later. We had meeting about tatical behaviour and brought it to the players who were isolating and those that arrived later. It is quite difficult when not all the players available. We had to be creative in many, many ways because we have to deliver from the first game day.
DF: It is always difficult to bring players who are going to bring double figures. We have to be creative and bring in players that we can bring in that can develop into getting you double figures at this level. With Josh he has produced double figures in terms of goals and assists. He is a player who is full of potential. He works his socks off for his team. He ticked many, many boxes and we all have big hopes that he can develop and have a major impact for the future. It was an unbelievable smart signing. At Budesliga level each and every club was thinking about him. It is up to us to work with him and up to him to prove that he can play at this level.
DF: (Tozis) We make sure we don't put too much pressure on him. He is a 19-year-old guy who has played in Greece. Christos is a player that is full of potential. We need some time for him to adapt. He is a great signing for the mid and the long term and we have many hopes that he can deliver in the short term as well. We will give him the time to adapt to this level. He is a promosing signing.
DF: It is the heart on the soul of our club. That is why I call it our living room. Our heart is beating at Carrow Road. There is nothing like this feeling when we all beating and all united. To have Carrow Road rocking. To feel that unity and to celebrate together, that is what football is about. It is about sharing these feelings and experiences together.
