He doesn't produce the performances to guarantee his place in the test side.fwiw I've said loads of times historically on here that I wouldn't have given Root the captaincy just because of the effect it would have,and did have on his batting. And btw,before you start droning on about Moeen Ali ,if you're patient enough to scroll through my bulls**t posts you'll see I advocated him as captain of England.
