Announcement: Charles21

Having reflected on it overnight I have come to the painful decision that it's time for me to retire from international football support. Like every person with decent morals, I won't be watching the next World Cup, which means I'll be deep into my 40s by the next tournament in Germany 2024 and my body simply can't do it any more. I am still hungover from Sunday, which is a shambles.

During my time as a supporter, we've had some crushing disappointments and some more crushing disappointments. It saddens me that football never came home, and with regret I don't think it ever will.

I leave England supporting in awful hands, with the next generation showing signs of being equally appalling as the previous one. Good luck to all of you.
