Norwich City is delighted to confirm the permanent transfers of Ben Gibson and Dimitris Giannoulis.

Following City’s promotion to the Premier League, obligation to buy clauses in the deals for both Gibson and Giannoulis have now been triggered.

Both players have signed for undisclosed fees on contracts through to the summer of 2024, with Gibson joining from Burnley and Giannoulis completing a move from PAOK.

Norwich City head coach Daniel Farke said: “We’re very happy that both Dimitris and Ben are now permanent members of our squad.

"Ben has been great from the moment he walked through the door. His class and personality very much helped us stabilise our defensive behaviour. He’s also a great leader and a fantastic person to have in the dressing room.

"With Dimitris, we were always fully convinced with his potential. He’s in a great age and already has a lot of experience. He played for a big club in Greece and is a proven international player.”

Gibson signed on loan from Burnley in September 2020 and would go on to make a total of 27 Sky Bet Championship appearances.

“I am absolutely delighted,” said Gibson. “What we achieved last season was remarkable.

“It couldn’t have gone any better, bar the injury for me, for the team and the squad. We had clear goals, we set out to achieve them and we fulfilled them in every way.

“We didn’t just get promoted, we were champions and we had record points total. So, it has literally been a dream move.”

“It (the Premier League) is where everyone wants to be. It is where I have been for different chapters in my career.

“We can’t wait to have another crack at it.”

Giannoulis joined the club during the January transfer window of 2021 on loan from Greek side PAOK.

During a crucial stage of the 2020/21 Championship-winning season the left-back made 16 appearances for City, registering one assist.

Giannoulis said: “I am really happy to be here. After the first four months that was a loan, now it is a permanent deal, and I can’t wait for next season.

“I can’t wait to play against these big players and top teams and to see our limits as players. I expect it will be difficult to play against these teams, but I think we are ready. We will work so hard in pre-season to compete against these top teams.

“Moving to a new country was a bit difficult at the start, but the guys here are very friendly. The lads in the dressing room are so good. Here we are like a family.”

Both players will join up with City squad for the upcoming pre-season preparations ahead of the new 2021/22 campaign.
