I really can’t see this not happening. We, the fans don’t matter, for it not to happen some intervention maybe even from government level will have to come in. But it’s ludicrous. David Bernstein speaking on radio 4 has said it comes down to the debt of Real Madrid and Barcelona and one English club having a billion pounds worth of debt. A billion.

The worry is where does it end/leave everyone else? This is another ‘Americanisation’ of sport, no promotion, no relegation, the clubs involved sharing the same pot of money so they stay near enough equal and ‘product’ is always good. But then if you look at American sport, below the top clubs (major leagues) are farm (feeder) teams, linked to major league teams where the lesser players play. Will that happen here in time? It wouldn’t surprise me.

This has to be fought very hard to be stopped.
