What strikes me is that for all that perceived wealth many

still don't compete and clearly aren't having huge amounts thrown at them to get out of the league. Also, as more and more wealthy foreign takeovers happen, many are doing it predominantly as an investment (for example how can a pension fund based investment do it for the love of football and the club?) But this investment is realistically only going to get its return by reaching the PL and there aren't limitless places in the PL so how long are the owners of Barnsley, Preston and the rest prepared to pump money in without getting there?
