all kept in the freezer and over very cold ice. You don't need quality gin for this, Gordons will do very nicely.
Or equal measures gin and dry vermouth with a green olive and a few drops of the water the olive was preserved in. For this one you will actually taste the gin.
If you are having tonic then it depends what tonic. There's no "right" answer. As OG has pointed out as well as lime and lemon, cucumber and orange also go very well with some tonics and grapefruit is also excellent. Most of what you're tasting is the tonic, so again no need to overthink the gin, more or less any gin will be just as nice. If you're going with a flavoured gin though then the same fruit as was used to flavour the gin (I don't really go for those but some do).
Mind you I'm practically teetotal just now, so I might have forgotten some good combinations.
