the rental co will have a high excess and it panics most people into taking the cover out

he will save a packet if he takes the travel supermarket cover and will have peace of mind that any issues that may arise are covered.

one other tip, if he has a credit card then take that along to the rental co as they rifle in a big (refundable) security deposit if he wants to pay by debit card. iirc they took 500 quid off me on my debit card for the duration of the rental.
