i've always thought that they retain heat?

the mattresses i mean, not really thought about a memory foam pillow. not sure of the deal with memory foam does it remember the shape of you and so you just settle down into a you shaped hole? if the memory bit is it just springing back into a non-you shaped flat mattress then that's what all mattresses do no?
