Sri Lanka are a much worse side

But mainly, we ignored the batting warning signs.

In the first test only 3 batsmen fired -root (majorly),Lawrence and Bairstow

In the second, root and buttler fired, and Sibley looked patchy but promising.

The Sri Lanka wins weren't gimmes, but we were soooooo reliant on Root for those.

Seemed to end up a weird mix of lack of confidence (from the players) and complacency (from the management)

It's a shame that Moeen came down with covid,but if we'd have had him and Rashid for the India series I think we'd have won it. The central contract issues with both of those guys have been mismanaged badly.
