The one at QPR was OK as long as it had been well sanded, bounce near normal, though teams seemed to struggle because the ball ran true. I only saw City play on it once, coped nicely. If you saw West London pitches in the 70s and 80s (QPR, Fulham, Chlesea) you would understand why they would want to try something different.
Part of the problem was the specification. At Loftus Road they specified it to cope with non-football use so they could get extra income, the story was that it was supposed to be able to cope with a baby elephant.
I didn't envy the groundman after there was trouble in the away end and they brought in police horses which proceeded to crap on the pitch.
