Nah, it’s because it was plum in the centre of the city!

The Bland Payne (now Marsh) office block is situated on the old goods yards of Victoria Station which is why there is a bridge along the road to Sainsbury’s (I left Norwich in 1987 so can’t remember the name of the road) - the tracks were still there for the occasional Coal train which was on the site of Sainsbury’s.

As far as I understand the old track into Norwich City Station is now a cycle route from at least Marl Pit Lane (where the road still curves to go over a non existent bridge that used to be an accident black spot) and along the route passes across an A frame rail bridge over the Wensum which is one of the last of its kind in the country.
