It depends who is getting infected.

Our overall 1 in 100 death rate was driven by lots of old and sick people, largely in hospitals and care homes.

Also by under-testing which is now not the case.

Normal death rate is probably more like 1 in 1,000 less if infections are weighted towards younger people (which seems to be the case in these spikes).
