but that doesn't matter as the purpose of the quarantines isn't to stop the virus but to absolve the government of blame if cases go up again. "Can't blame us, we introduced quarantines" (even if we have made absolutely zero effort to enforce them, as with pretty much every other 'rule' they have supposedly brought in) . Quarantine also has the benefit of creating the impression that the virus is now other countries' problems rather than ours, so any rise in cases here will be their fault.
