Not that straightforward

Irrespective of what has happened at other clubs, it is not right to just blame the coach.
Firstly, I suspect the training that is happening now is not as intense as it was pre-lockdown. Training is important to the group and I reckon the disruption has done us no favours.

Secondly we have had injured centre backs all season. Asking Klose to come back 9 months out was a big ask. Byram too is injured. Normally you'd expect the coach to change personnel after poor results, but this has not been possible as those who've played were all we've got.

Don't blame Webber, Farke (or anybody else for that matter) for recruitment. We know we can't match bigger spending clubs. We've tried that and made some really costly mistakes. However I think Webber will hold his hands up and admit that players brought in pre-season and January did not work out. One is now at lowly Middlesborough, clearly not good enough for us, Duda went back early, Amadou cut his loan spell reportedly because he wanted to go back to Spain, and anyway I'm not sure we saw the best of him when deployed as a defender. A goalkeeper who ended up being quite pointless. Drmic - well, I'm not convinced putting it mildly. But you only have to look at Villa, who spent a reported £144m - 70 times more than we did. I'm not sure what the answer is but maybe we ought to have have got in a player with some premium experience and who can lead on the pitch. Krul and Tettey are experienced but we really needed somebody else I think.

Finally, pre lockdown we weren't that bad. In 12 games in 2020 until lockdown we drew 3 (inc after 90 mins v Spurs in cup) and won 4. Those that we did lose to included Liverpool, Utd and Wolves. The huge thing that has changed is the fact that Carrow Road full of cheering supporters puts pressure on opposition and referees. In a small ground it makes one hell of a difference. That and our significant and vocal away fans. We may not have avoided the drop, but I'm convinced our performance and points tally would have been better with a full Carrow Road.

OTBC - lets hope for an end to Covid 19 and Social Distancing.
