I’ve reflected a little bit now I’ve calmed down from yesdee

There will clearly be a lot of work needed on defence for next season, particularly is we’re building a defence capable of holding its own in the Prem in future.

First, we need to keep people fit. We’ve been hugely unlucky with injuries. Farke has barely had any options at the back, and has often had one fit CB. It doesn’t excuse all, but it helps to explain why we’ve been so s**t. I don’t believe we’ve had a single game where he could have played three at the back? Yes, Klose has been awful since return. He’s clearly not fit however. He’s only playing and there is essentially nobody else.

Second, the defensive side of midfield has been far below prem standard. Too small, not fast enough. So often players galloping through en masse, leaving the back four totally exposed.

Third, not enough presence up front to give us a viable out ball. Just piles pressure on the defence when we’re under the cosh.

Fourth, the side overall is simply too small. Hence why we leak goals from set pieces. Way too easy. Zonal, man-to-man, whatever. If you haven’t got enough players strong enough I’m the air, you’re cooked regardless.

Fifth, full backs bombing on. With all the other problems up there, this is asking for trouble. If we fix all these other problems it’s less of an issue and we can get away with it more.

Sixth, individual mistakes. How many times have we made suicidal mistakes that immediately cost goals in tight games. Answer, loads.

Seventh, confidence. It’s impossible to get the basics right when you’re running on zero confidence. It’s the main task for the summer. To get some confidence back in the players.

Eighth. Recruitment. We’ll lose Godfrey. Possibly Klose. We need to sign a really good dominant CB. Or hope the academy prospects come through.

I could go on, but that will do for now!
