McNally did a great job for a number of years, but signed off on a poor series of deals in the summers of 2013 and 2015 which put us back in difficulties.

We did well out of him for a while. He did well out of us too.

Ultimately he didn't put in place a sustainable setup. We invested well for the future, but very badly for the present in his latter years with us. I think that those decisions, both good and bad need to be apportioned collectively. Bad decisions were significantly the incumbent manager's fault. Good youth recruitment comes down to those scouts /loan managers /coaches who brought them through.
