Well said Jim - my “concern” with Farke....

Is not his ability per se, I think he’s excellent, it’s just whether the style he likes actually really works in English football. I had a similar reservation after we lost 3-0 at home to Leeds last season, and clearly I was wrong. However, I think our style changed significantly after the Ipswich game that season, and through the Autumn, we were far quicker on the ball and dallied with it at the back far less, looking to get it forward with purpose. That’s disappeared again and we’re back to that insipid slow style that allows defences to get back and invariably leads to us making errors at the back which dogged us in the first season of Farke.

Without spending mega bucks on CMs that can boss a match, I don’t think we’ll ever be able to make the style of dominating the ball work in the PL. Even teams like WOlves that play a possession based game get a lot of their success on the break. When did we last deploy a successful counter attack?!

If Farke doesn’t learn from this season and make some changes, (I’m sure he will) then I’m not sure it’s going to work in the long term, if the goal is to step us up to the next level.
