if we hadn't, it wouldn't have been materially worse

based on what doesn't seem to be happening in countries that didn't take the measures we took.

I don't have a problem with doing lockdown as we didn't know what we were facing or how bad it would be. Early signs were grim.

We have a much better idea now, have more capacity in the system, and we have a better idea of who needs to be protected and (more significantly) who doesn't.
