Indeed.

Emails will surely survive for a good while though as they give the composer time to think. Maybe I'm missing the point but I'd hate it if most communication was done (remotely) face to face as I'd probably forget what I was on about and absentmindedly swear a lot.

We only had one term of typewriter lessons in school, as they were in the process of getting newfangled computers in, but they did attempt to teach us to touch type on them (which is a bit alliterative I know, sorry).
