The way some of the lifeboat crew members have been treated. For example the Whitby crew sackings, the business with the coxswain of the Jersey St Helier lifeboat being sacked which led to the crew deciding to split from the RNLI and go independent.
If stories are to be believed, many long serving crew are uncomfortable with aspects of the way the charity is run. These people are volunteers and now have an ever swelling army of well paid management and a CEO on 6 figures.
Some of the other stuff has been touched on already. The way the organisation is being run doesn't sit well with the type of people who have historically supported it most. Wealthy people with an interest in the sea who may lean right of center politically.
