Google tablet help

Afternoon all, long time no speak.

I got a free Alcatel tablet with my wife’s IPhone recently.
I don’t really know about android/google play store. I assume I can download apps to it?
What is worthwhile getting for my kids age 9/7/5
Vaguely educational is good
