Sadly I am too time pressed at the moment to think it through properly, and probably need to see what was discussed in those meetings to understand why they fell on the side of non relegation/non promotion.
But makes a challenge to any FA decision not to permit the cancellation of relegation a little more arguable on paper.
So with the right amount of leverage (this precedent approach) and the proper application of strength (£££ or expanding the EPL to take away likely EFL objections) it would appear to open the door to finding a way to get the FA to agree not to relegate. Savvy?
(not sure it changes much else in our favour though)
