The first thing PL clubs need to do is to tell everyone else to butt out

They should come up with a plan that satisfies their key financial partners, which regrettably isn’t us, and their key employees and then tell the FA, EFL, the Government and Uncle Tom Cobbley and all that they can FO if they don’t like it. (Incidentally wasn’t Uncle Tom Cobbley from Yorkshire?)

Much has been made of finishing the season which any realist can see just isn’t going to happen. Whatever formula is used to calculate relegation will displease someone (and no I do not believe we deserve to be where we are, with returning players, a FA cup boost and a fair wind I still had hope that we could do a Sunderland and escape but no-one will ever know).

IMHO There is a need for a radical look at the entire structure of Football in the world for the next couple of years until we either have a vaccine or can live with this virus. This may mean rebranding the PL for a couple of years by inviting others to join - but not as shareholders, pausing this season by only playing the missing games (I.e. so everyone has played the same number of games),declaring that the CL and Europa places will be decided on the basis of that position if UEFA can run the competitions and declare Liverpool as Champions.

The EFL needs to be regionalised including the Championship, probably with mini leagues that have a championship play off.

The above is based on the assumption that the symbiotic relationship between TV and Football remains in place, as proved by the Euro champ playoffs, as long as there is something to “win” the hoi poloi will watch it. Whichever way you cut it this Season is dead.

It’s time for out of the box thinking. We invented the game, surely we can reinvent it for the current environment!
