Agreed - and therein is the problem (or a big part of it)

I came back from Spain thinking I had picked up a bug and it was bad enough for me to obtain a blood test (mainly to check it wasn't connected to something else I sometimes have). Others felt bad enough to see a Dr as well but not everyone. Others were fine. This was still at a time when we all thought (hoped) coronavirus was just an Asian issue so I never gave a thought to it being the virus until a fortnight later when it started to take off in Europe. Might have been, might not. As you say it probably is asymptomatic rather than Covid19 itself but who knows....
