Yes - if the honest answer is that the club would have made people redundant otherwise

then that's what this scheme is for.

I guess JoeyDeacon's counter argument is that the club shouldn't have been making anyone redundant.

However, that is the reality at any football club. Look at what happens on a relegation, it's the non-playing staff that suffer more than the players
