Ruminations from Todays Fenton Wanders.... Snakes..

I saw 2 snakes today.... the first one was obviously a Common grass snake.

I walk along an area where there is a dyke/stream. Last year there was a copious amount of Frog Spawn in this area, but this year I have not spotted any at all. Strange I thought, but today I spotted a large Barred Grass snake patrolling the dyke and it seems to have single-handedly eaten most of the returning frogs, hence no frog spawn.

Barred Grass snakes look very similar to Adders but have no patterning along the middle of their backs.
