if the clubs agree to change the rules then they are the rules and they haven't been broken. Their game in hand is no less fair than us not getting play our last games (which are much nicer than theirs). ANY unplayed games are uncertain. If they say "we MIGHT have won our game in hand and got out of the bottom 3" that's no different from us saying "we MIGHT have got enough points from our remaining games to stay up".
Like us they have had plenty of opportunity - they have played 28 games and got 25 points, so if they have 'a leg to stand on' so do we and anyone else relegated.
