Your body also needs certain minerals, vitamins etc, so even if you are getting enough calories, only eating one source of calories is not a good idea. 1,500 calories of a balanced diet is clearly better for you than 1,500 calories of chocolate bars, even though both diets should result in a similar weight loss (at least in short term).
