But all tax payers should pay a rate that is consistent with the system. If the system is high tax, it should be for everyone, if it is not, then it shouldn't be for anyone.
Imposing tax as if we had a high tax system on those that are well paid, while imposing tax on the median earner as if we did not have a high tax system, isn't consistent.
Actually, I think Corbyn would have preferred a high tax system all round, it is surely consistent with his politics. But you can't come out and say that it's going to be tax increases for everyone and expect to be elected.
