Couple of random musings

People often say “they’re really tough” or “they’re a fighter” about people that are gravely ill. I’ve never liked it personally. It implies that people that have died were slackers. They clearly weren’t fighters. They weren’t tough. Which has to be bollocks. (I may be over thinking that one.)

Second thing. Most of you will have picked up that my politics are left of centre. Well to the right of Corbs and his lot. More centre left, which places me far to the left of a big group of you on here. But every day I read the Telegraph to challenge myself and avoid echo chamber. During this crisis the Telegraph has switched position countless times (I’ll be charitable and say their columnists are offering a diversity of views to their readership). But a good chunk of their opinion pieces (far from all to be fair) have pushed the right wing Trump line, saying as politely as possible, why wreck the whole economy just to save a few old/already sick people who will probably die anyway. I wonder how the authors of those think pieces now feel with poor Boris in ICU. When it’s X% it’s easy to disassociate. But it’s people. Real people. So I’m glad Boris has ignored those on the right of his party, and will be hoping like hell for good news for him over the coming days.
