I think it depends....

Would we otherwise be making these staff redundant or asking them to take unpaid leave? If yes, then using the government scheme is more acceptable, but one could argue the club should just take the hit

If they wouldn’t otherwise be made redundant or asked to take unpaid leave then it’s poor form.
