I don't think the club is much like other local businesses

it has a turnover of more than £100m and employs a significant proportion of its staff millions every year. Nothing like local most businesses really.

The government policy is designed at heart to benefit small businesses who need the money to survive a tumultuous period. It isn't designed for big companies with huge turnover to subsidise some of their wages for a bit.

There is a low bar for qualification because organising a complex administrative system for the handout is impossible right now, but socially responsible companies (including 'community' football clubs) really should not be taking public money at this time. Liverpool were morally shamed by their fans into backtracking, and we should really be doing the same to Norwich.
