A bit yes but then I believe that us, Italy and France have taken more or less the same

approach (i.e. testing people with more serious symptoms and not widespread community testing).

I would see the number of "positive cases" as being more a rough indication of how many people are having to be hospitalised although I know the government is now giving that stat at its daily briefings as well and that's quite an important one in so far as it needs to stay below the NHS capacity.

Once we start the wider community testing then if they blend those test results with the hospital test results in the stats then it will become meaningless but for now as long as the UK continues to apply a consistent approach it at least offers an indication of trends.

Interesting initial stat from the first testing of self isolating NHS staff over the weekend is that out of 900 who were self isolating due to symptoms only 15% tested positive. Small ample though but promising in terms of maybe getting quite a lot of staff members back to work.
