Need the stricter measures to hopefully kick in and show in the figures towards the end of next week.
We are closer to France type fatality numbers than Italy but the worry has always been what happens when we simply run out of capacity for patients. Even though number should stop increasing % terms there are still going to be hundreds of people going to hospitals every day.
For what its worth we are 53% lower than France and 21% lower for cases than Italy at the equivalent stages.
For deaths we are between 40% and 34% lower than Italy and between 31% and 12% lower than France. I use the range because the way we adjusted the figures this week makes it unclear whether you should be comparing with the figures from the countries 24 hours earlier to get a real picture. I am not sure if they have a 24 hour lag like we do.
