Who knows???

Could be that Mr Dyson is a Tory party donor. Could be that they are world leading experts on electrical device motor production. Could be that they can mass produce at a quicker rate than anyone else. Could be that their design is of a higher quality than others submitted and would continue in service after this nightmare finishes. Doubt we will find out the decision making process for a while. Im all for bashing the tories at every available opportunity, but it will be a panel of itu clinicians that will have had a significant input into the preferential supplier.
