Hospitality staff, a question someone maybe able to answer

my daughter and her boyfriend have both been affected by this.

He has been made to take "unpaid leave", so effectively laid off for who knows how long, but not officially made redundant.

He's not sick so assume he's not entitled to SSP.

Is he entitled to any other benefits with immediate effect? Anything at all?

There will be hundreds, if not thousands, of young waiters and bar staff in this situation, some of them with dependants. What do they do?!
