I suspect hardly any would veto it

I suspect the suggestion which the original post outlined is the one that most other countries will follow and there is precedent for it being done before. Its clearly not ideal but its probably the least bad solution if finishing isn't possible by summer. The one thing I've never heard of any league (in any sport) doing is trying to finish a season in the time already set aside for the NEXT season. So whilst everyone agrees that the ideal thing is to finish there is a realistic time limit beyond which that just won't be practical.
